18 Scholars from National Chung Cheng University were Selected in Stanford's List of the World's Top 2% Scientists

Stanford University has recently released the list of the “World's Top 2% Scientists 2024,” in which 18 faculty members and students from National Chung Cheng University (CCU) were included in the "Career-Long Scientific Impact Rankings." Additionally, 10 members were listed in the "2023 Scientific Impact Rankings." These scholars are from diverse fields, such as the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Communicatioans Engineering, the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, the Department of Chemical Engineering, and the Department of Information Management.

This list was created using data from Scopus, the world’s largest abstract and citation database, and published by Elsevier's Mendeley Data. The ranking is based on six key indicators: total citations, Hirsch h-index, co-authorship-adjusted Schreiber Hm-index, citations as a single author, citations as the first or single author, and citations as the first, single, or last author. These indicators reflect the academic impact of scholars' research publications.

The research team updated the data through the end of 2023, calculating it based on all Scopus authors as of August 1, 2024. They selected the top 2% of scientists in the world, covering 22 major academic disciplines and 174 subfields. The final list included approximately 100,000 scientists, and was divided into two categories: "Career-Long Scientific Impact Rankings (1960-2023)" and the "2023 Scientific Impact Rankings."

This year, not only did 18 professors from CCU make the list, but also 1 researcher and 1 Ph.D. student (present Assistant Research Fellow) were recognized, which showcased the university's significant contributions to global academia and dedication to nurturing talents.
